LinkSieve

Privacy policy

Effective 19 October 2026. SocialSure Private Limited.

LinkSieve is a free Android utility for scanning codes, inspecting their contents and creating QR images. The app does not have internet permission and does not send scanned contents, photos, usage events, identifiers or crash reports to us. It contains no ads, analytics, accounts or purchases.

Information on your device

Camera frames and images you select are processed on your device to decode QR codes and barcodes. LinkSieve does not save camera frames or copies of imported photos. Current input and creation fields may be retained by Android to restore your screen after interruption. You can explicitly save decoded text, a label, its code format and a timestamp in the local library. Automatic history is off by default. If you enable it, scans and imported codes are saved locally, including any passwords or contact details in them. Appearance and history preferences are stored locally.

Permissions

Camera permission is requested when you choose Scan code. The camera is active only while the scanner screen is open and the app is in use. You can deny permission and use image import or pasted text instead. Android photo and document pickers grant access only to selected items. LinkSieve does not request location, contacts, microphone, broad photo-library access or broad storage access.

Links, clipboard and sharing

Links are displayed before opening. An external browser or associated app opens only after your explicit action and confirmation. That destination may connect to the internet under its own privacy policy. LinkSieve does not follow redirects or check website reputation. Copying places the selected contents on Android's clipboard, where the operating system and other apps may have access. QR image sharing creates a PNG in private temporary storage and grants the receiving app access through Android's share sheet. The recipient's handling of a shared copy is outside LinkSieve.

Backups and exports

You can export saved codes to a versioned archive through Android's document picker. Archives and QR images are not encrypted. They can contain Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, private links or other information you choose to save. Choose a trusted destination. The destination may be a cloud storage provider if you select one. LinkSieve validates archive integrity and contents before offering to replace the local library. Android cloud backup and device transfer of app data are disabled. Export a backup before changing devices or uninstalling.

Retention and deletion

Saved codes remain until you delete individual records, choose Delete all saved codes in Settings, clear app storage through Android, or uninstall. Temporary QR images may remain in the app cache until Android clears them, a later sharing action removes older cached files, you clear storage, or you uninstall. Copies exported to other apps and your clipboard must be deleted separately. We have no remote copy and no account to delete.

Support and this website

If you contact support, your email address and the information you send are processed by our email provider so we can respond. Avoid sending private codes, passwords or personal photos. This site has no analytics, advertising, forms, third-party fonts or tracking cookies. GitHub Pages hosts it and may process technical access logs under GitHub's privacy statement. The app never contacts this website automatically.

Audience and changes

LinkSieve is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We will update this policy and its effective date if the app's information practices change.
